NY Naturalization Records. Did I index the GN and SN correctly? I have no experience with Chinese names.

    I would index this as:

Given Name: Esther Pei-Yu Wang Or Pei-Yu

    Surname: Chow

We index the first given name first, then all other aliases.

So then wouldn't it be the following?

Given Name: Esther Pei-Yu Wang or Pei-Yu Wang

    Surname: Chow

Yeah, thanks for catching that. Stroke brain gets the best of me sometimes. 😂

Chinese names are always tricky. There was a Canadian project not too long ago that specifically dealt with Chinese immigrants. That project said to index the name in the given name field, unless we could discern both the given and surnames. Under that project, Esther would most likely be completely in the given name field, but that was project-specific. In the Naturalization projects, I've always treated the last name in Chinese names as the surname, since there is no instruction, but then again, I haven't come across a whole lot of Chinese immigrants.

Thanks for all your help with this project. Looks like the indexing is done for this project.
