He has a marriage source under sources. How can I add a tag to this source so I can see it when I bring up his details. Can that tag be added as an option like birth name etc?

Source tagging for relationship events is rather convoluted: you can only do it with sources that you add to the separate and well-hidden relationship sources area. The only way I know of for doing so is to edit the relationship (by clicking the edit/pencil button), and then click "Add Source". So actually, step zero is to copy the desired sources to your source box, so that you can add them on that popup without miraculous feats of memory.

Once you've added both the source(s) and the event(s) to the relationship popup, then you can tag the one to the other either by editing the event and clicking "Tag Sources", or by clicking the source title on the relationship popup and then choosing "Add Tag".

A marriage already shows just under the names of the couple:

I'm sorry - you said you wanted to see it when you bring up his details. I was answering that question since it does show.
