Hello, looking in one of my family registers I found out that the event says burial and that my ancestor appears like deseased, but the register is a marriage event. It seems all the files in the group appear as burial. How can I correct this information in a locked archive? I tried to do it as sugested in the help link, but it only allows changes of names or dates nor events. This is the register

"Colombia, registros parroquiales y diocesanos, 1576-2018," database with images, FamilySearch (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:6XH6-C9CJ : 5 March 2022), Oscar William Pizarro Benítez, 28 May 1983; citing, Burial, Cali, Valle del Cauca, Colombia, La Arquidiocesis de Caragena (The Archdiocese of Cartagena), Colombia; FHL microfilm .

    Yes, I do see that the record details page for Oscar William Pizarro Benítez, in the Collection: Colombia, Catholic Church Records, 1576-2018, is incorrectly identified as a burial record. Fortunately, however, it appears that a Marriage record template seems to have been used when indexing the original document. I mean, by this, that all the items that you would expect to see in a marriage record are there; e.g., the spouse, and the spouse's parents, etc.

    Unfortunately, the ability to edit the Type of Event is not available. It appears that this record has been attached, as a Source, to the Family Tree record for your ancestor. One approach to deal with the incorrect Event Type would be to edit the Source information so that others will quickly realize that this source is a marriage record and not, as indicated, a burial record. the edits could include:

    • add something like "Oscar William Pizarro Benítez & Ilva Claudia Delgado Peña marriage" to the title;
    • in the Notes section of the Source, add a note to indicate that the Event Type is incorrect in the index record, and that the record is actually a marriage record.

    https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:6XH6-C9CJ can now be edited. Please click on the pencil to the right of the Event "Burial", choose a different Event Type from the drop down list provided, and click Save Changes. Please note that sometimes the changes take a bit to appear on the historical record. Thanks.
