A new action is in place now for viewing new hints.

I was alerted to a new hint on a family member but when I tries to view it I saw

"We're unable to show this record to you.

This record can only be displayed on certain accounts. FamilySearch must honor the agreements we have with our partners, record owners, and internal policies."

I suppose you've got a new contract with ANCESTRY so I cant see this without subscribing to them.

It would be better to not even show that it is available than to put it on and then say that I'm not allowed to see it.

If that was a hint for the 1950 census, there is a known problem with hints from that database, and the engineers are working on the issue.

Secondarily, these notifications are often sent to get a person to re-engage w/ FS. Like - Oh hey! We're still here. Come spend some time on our site!

3/4 of the time it takes me to a source record or new memory THAT I MYSELF added to said person!!

You can turn notifications on and off thusly:
