In "US, New York, Statewide—Index to Land Records, Grantees, 1630–1975 [Part C][M35N-TFT]" The Field Data says that the Date should be the Date that the Item was RECORDED, but in the Help Section for this, the Example shows the Date is the Date of the Item, not the date it was recorded. All the others that I have done, it has always been the Date it is Recorded.

    Hi @Dale Erz

    I don’t see the problem.

For this project the Field Help (FH - purple question mark) for the Deed Month says: “If the deed date was not recorded, index the date of the record.” Likewise for the Field Help.for Deed Day and Deed Year. As well, all five indexing examples follow - are consistent with - these FH instructions, indexing the recorded date only when the deed date was not available.

Each project has its own instructions that the Indexer and Reciewer must follow. Even projects of the same type or later parts of identical projects can have instructions contrary to other or earlier ones.

So, for this project, index the deed date if it is available; otherwise index the date of record = the “recorded date.”

In the samples provided, the recorded date was the date indexed in every example.
