This image is showing a "image unavailable" message when we try to view it.

Some of the images in the same area are viewable and a few others are not. Can we find out why these images are not viewable? Some patrons are attempting to access the images and they have not been accessible for several weeks.

We are in the Columbia Maryland Family History Center 3335046

Thanks!

A quick check confirms Maureen's comments. All material in this section appears to be freely available for viewing, as long as their content does not go past 1940. It is only those films containing records more recent than that (i.e. 1941 onwards) that cannot be viewed at present.

    It's not a batch. It's a DGS in the catalog: 100327889 .

Looking at the catalogue link provided by Áine Ní Donnghaile, I think the unavailability must have something to do with the dates of the records. The record set quoted above in the original post contains records to 1949, and I notice on the first page of the catalogue listing the set of records Wills, v. RPS no. 5, 1940-1947 is also unavailable, although the set Wills, v. RPS no. 4, 1931-1940 is available

A quick scan through the records available seems to indicate that any set of records which contains records for the 1940s is not available. Perhaps these records will be released in the future possibly 2030?

@J. Britt Franklin - thanks for highlighting this problem, with film # 100327889; in the Catalog page, "Maryland, Dorchester County, probate records, 1838-1948."

The message that you are seeing appears to be, "Image Unavailable: This image is unavailable for online viewing at this time." It is possible that you are seeing this message because the permission to view the associated film has recently changed, or is being reviewed. If so, it is possible the all portions of FamilySearch are not yet up to date, as pertaining to the permission/restrictions for the film - or is not in sync across FamilySearch.

You should expect to see this message go away, in time; although, I understand it has remained this way for some weeks. It is likely that, when things settle out, a restriction on viewing this film, and others that are beyond 1940, may remain.

Following the invitation , "To view digital images of these Maryland, Register of Wills Records, click here...." will not give you more access to Dorchester County records, as those records don't appear to get into the 1940's. One does find Estate files, 1934-1948 - but, in this section I saw only 1 document, that reached beyond 1940. (I only sampled this section, so it may be possible that others exist.)

There are a number of comments, provided by others, that pertain to your; and I recommend them. I hope that this helps.
