When one is indexing the father's or mother's given name or surname, it is it safe to assume the gender of the person/parent by just looking at the name? Information is given when there are initials given for both, just not when one name is given for a parent...like James or Gertrude. But what to do with Malli or Piesach?

Or am I am missing the boat...if a single name is given, is it the name of the child?...only when there are initials are they the parents? Sorry having a little brain fog.😀

Thanks for your help. Always appreciate it!

I think I answered my own question. 😂 Sorry...and yes, I do read the instructions, examples and all the purple questions. Think I was overthinking it...or brain fog.
