I am trying to find out the status of a computer that Family History support placed for my FHC over 2 years ago. Every time that I call about the status, nobody can give me an answer. The reply that I get is, "We have no control over that department and can not find out about the status of the computer.

    1. Why is that department closed to anybody else or to family history support personnel?
    2. Why is it so restrictive?

I do not understand why it is taking so long (over 2 years) to receive a computer.

Br Thomas, May I suggest you call in to Family Search.org to Family History Center Support and ask that another request for a computer be filled out for your center. A mention can be made that one was requested 2 years ago just in case your center order is able to be found.

What is the unit number or unit name ? Computer replacement is longer than 2 years and replacement is based on a number of things.

    Hello David

If an FHC computer has come to the end of its usable life and cannot be upgraded to run Windows 10, then these machines can be replaced according to the “computer allocation” quantity assigned to your FHC.

These old computers need to be wiped of all traces of the FHC image OS and need to be disposed of by Facilities Management.

Examples of unusable machines could be the 9020 and 9010 Dell AIOs, which can no-longer command OS licences in FHCs.

Mena Arizona , correct ? (2) 7480 current models were shipped on 10/27/2020. Those models are current models and were Windows 10 computers. I show you have a 780 and a 9030 currently. I would reach out to the Stake STS and see what happen to those computers. Typically they are shipped to the Stake President and he may have sent them someplace else.

No, it is not Mena, Arizona, it is Mena, Arkansas. I did talk with Family History Support and I was told that a computer was requested on 5/22/22 and it is in que. Do not know what that means. The sister that I talked to said it should get here between 6-9 months. Still the question, why should it take that long to get a computer that long to be shipped. Just ordered some essential oils from Idaho. They arrived here this afternoon. Maybe that I have a wrong perspective on the two things. Why?

Delays are because of worldwide chip shortage

Our FHC died while we were closed during the COVID Pandemic, in early December 2021, I called the Family Support Number, spoke to a Sister Wood, she informed me that all Window 7 are to be replaced and she completed a replacement order of our two dead computers with Window 10's, and that it would be awhile as they behind. We just advise everyone to bring their laptops/tablets and we loan our own as needed. It's very frustrating to wait, we haven't had over ten patrons mostly just two of us and we do a lot of 1950 Census

I have been informed by Family History Support, that a computer was requested on 5/22/2022 and is in que. It may take several months to get it. They told me that it may be here around Thanksgiving or Christmas,
