Why can't you show an apostrophe in a name any longer?

In the last few days when I need to put in an apostrophe in a name, the system will not allow it. It is the proper way to spell the name, but it stops it no matter what I try. What would you suggest?

Im doing the Enlisted and Muster Rolls Part M and I can put apostrophes in the names. Do you think it is because of the batch itself? I also work on a desktop computer. Maybe its different if you use a different device than mine?

Hi, Thanks for your hard work - those indexes are kind of tricky but fun - I am working on Missouri County Marriages and had the same problem - I tried it a couple of times, then gave up on the apostrophe and made sure to capitalize as in this example - OBrien - I figure a researcher will be able to use the information without the apostrophe. Just enjoy your work and have a Merry Christmas, too

Apparently the owner of the records (Missouri) doesn't want the apostrophes indexed. It might have something to do with the way their search engines work. For FamilySearch, the search engine ignores spaces, punctuation and capitalization. But, since they have made it impossible to place an apostrophe in the name fields for the Missouri Marriages, don't worry about them.

I have had better luck with the Muster rolls too. I am working Missouri Marriages now and I am unable to put in the apostrophe in the list at all. I even couldn't do it when I was working on reviewing the same batches. I have never had that problem before.

Thank you so much for the comments. I was afraid I was doing something wrong, but it looks like you and others are having the same problem.
