How do I find the parents of Housen Slate (1805) in VA & his wife Eliza Phipps' Father

Hello,

I have been looking on Family Search for over two years and cannot find the parents of

Housen (Hauser, Hawsen) Slate Born 1805 in VA or KY ?

I cannot find Eliza Phipps' Father (Phips, Fipps). She was born 1814 in VA.

I did find the Marriage Bond for them in Smyth County VA 1832.

Eliza's mother Elizabeth or Elisabeth signed the Marriage Bond, But, no mention of her father's name was on the bond.

Howsen's parents were not mentioned on the Marriage Bond.

I cannot find any information to verify Eliza's mother's husband and her maiden name.

I can find no mention of his or her parents anywhere yet on line.

If anyone has any suggestions as to where to look, I would appreciate them.
