Archival source
What archive/Library in Germany would hold the Protestant church records and/or civil registration for the time period which would include July 20th 1658 in Worms.?( determined from microfilm of marriage record and town book.) I am unable to currently view these at the FHL in Salt Lake City.
Am prepared to write appropriate query or pay a professional researcher to look for this records.
Could not locate a resource for this in the sources section for this group.
Thank you,
Carol

According to the church book inventory of the Speyer state archive, it looks like the protestant church records are kept at the Worms city archive. See pages 410-411 in the inventory (in case images below are not available) https://www.landeshauptarchiv.de/fileadmin/user_upload/Gemeinsame_Dateien/Download/Kirchenbuch/Kirchenbuchverzeichnis_%C3%BCbergreifend2020.pdf
Abbreviations: a = baptisms, b = marriages, c = deaths
You can submit a document request to the archive via email: stadtarchiv@worms.de
If you need help writing a request in German, this wiki article can help you out: https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/German_Letter_Writing_Guide
Civil registrations did not start until 1876 in Hessen, so you'll only be looking for church records in the 1600s. Good luck.

This is the response I received. Does this mean that the information on page 410 was incorrect or might I locate the records elsewhere?
According to Google translate, this states the records were destroyed in 1689. What should I do next? Might they have any kind of record like town history or family folders which might mention the family for this man?
I do not mind digging if I could get suggestions. I would also would be willing to pay a professional researcher in the area to look.

After a closer review of page 410, I see now that there is a gap in records from 1642-1672. Sorry for not catching that earlier. The letter says that particular book has been considered lost for centuries. It was lost during the war in 1689. I'm not sure what other records my be available. I'll see what I can find out.

Thank you. I would appreciate any information or suggestions as to where to look. I would be willing to pay a genealogist in the area to look as well.

Do you have the film number and information for the marriage record? Did it state that he was born in Worms, or just give his birth date? Do you know if he lived in the city of Worms or in the surrounding area? If he was born in a village near Worms, you could see if the archive has the church records for that parish.
It is also possible that he was born somewhere else. His family may have moved to Worms after his birth.
Court records might include information about the family. However, based on the wikipedia article about the Worms city archive, those were also burnt. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stadtarchiv_Worms
Here is a list of researchers in Germany. https://berufsgenealogie.net/german/mitglieder_regio.html#Hessen
Perhaps they can help determine what other options there may be.

The marriage record only states that he was "from Worms". When and if I ever get back to to FHL, I plan to look in nearby parishes.
I tried the researcher listed form Hesse, Stephan, Ullrich and he states he no longer does research in the area. So far, I have found no one else.
I do have the record from the microfilm, but have already had it translated. That is all there is on it.

You could also try contacting local genealogical societies to see if they might be able to help in any way. It looks like the following might cover the Rheinhessen area:
Pfälzisch-Rheinische Familienkunde (PRFK) https://www.prfk.org/
Westdeutsche Gesellschaft für Familienkunde (WGfF) http://www.wgff.de/
Hessische familiengeschichtliche Vereinigung (HfV) https://www.hfv-ev.de/
