Chinese New Year is on Jan 25th this year. Ancestors worshiping is still a big part of the celebration. In this practice, we can conclude that genealogy is important for the Chinese people and culture. Even though some of us do not practice ancestor worship, it is fun to learn about it. This link has very detailed description of the festivities and practices of Chinese New Year.

    How do you celebrate?

Thanks so much for sharing this. I love learning about the customs in other countries. I don't have ancestors from China, but I do have new extended family from China. I didn't expect China to be part of my genealogy, but now it is.

it is really hard to read but I can ask around and work on it. I am at SLIG this whole week so I probably won't be able to get to it till next week.

Would it be ok to copy/send this to my dtr? She is 1/2 asian. Was supposed to be "Chinese", but found out grma was Korean, but DNA puts lots of Japanese in her. Her friend translates this kind of stuff for her when I send copy of passports, letters, photos with brief paragraphs, etc.
