Henry Larson born 1837 immigrated 1856, need info from birth to 1856?

New here and needing help to fill in some gaps. In 1857 Henry Larsen of Bornholm Denmark shows up in Illinois and marries Andria Andersen of Bornholm Denmark. From there they move to California and later to Lovelock Nevada, in fact Henry Larsen basically built Lovelock. He died in 1930.

A group here in America has been working on his history from 1857-1930 for his family and archives, partly for some in Lovelock. However we can find nothing prior to his arrival at Ellis Island in 1856, he gave no record of his parents or siblings. Only his birth location.

We need help in discovering some missing details.

1) His missing years in Bornholm Denmark from 1837-1856, his parents, his siblings, his life. He appears not to have had formal education, he could not read, but he knew everything about farming one could know and apparently had that knowledge before coming to America.

2) His parents may have died very early in life or he may have been orphaned. It's possible his name was Americanized to Henry Larson from Hen'rik Larsen.

3) He had at least 1 friend he kept in contact with up until 1895 in Bornholm via post that he sent books to.

4) He may have returned to Bornholm in 1905-1910 to visit the friend and/or try to preach.

There is never any mention he wrote to or visited family.

The person in this record, Lars Henrik Larsen (entry # 31) is a possibility for your Henrik Larsen: https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/da/billedviser?bsid=389288#389288,74210699. The record indicates that he has moved "to America" on 28 April 1857 from Øster Marie parish in Bornholm.

He is in the 1855 census with his family in Øster Marie parish in Bornholm. That indexed record is here: https://www.danishfamilysearch.com/cid8247365. His parents are farmer Jørgen Larsen and Jensine Marcher. He has brothers named Esper Signius and Jørgen Peter and a sister named Dorthea.

I need to stress that there isn't any proof that this is your Henrik Larsen, but he certainly is someone who warrants further research.

I just noticed that there is also a tree for Henry Larson (with the same family members) in Ancestry. If you have access to Ancestry, you can see that tree here: https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/person/tree/177750809/person/432308232991/facts. It shows parents as Povl Larson and Marthe Margrethe Hansdatter, but there is no birth record showing Henry's birth, so that information is questionable.

The tree at ancestry.com is mine. I found those possible names of his parents because I was hoping that it might create leaves. It never did.

Very many thanks beyond measure. You answered a very important question, why did he leave Denmark and once in America renounce his family. He married Andria Magdelena Andersen. They came here together. From the fact that he renounced his family and we know hers, it may have been his parents that did not approve of the union.

I will now assembly an email to all the historians involved and update Ancestry, I should get leaves now. Thank you very very much.

You will need to have a Family Search account to look at an individual.

Once you are signed in, next to the Family Search logo at the top of the page, you will see:

Click on "Family Tree" and you will see:

Select "Find" then "Find by ID". Under "Ancestor ID" enter the Personal Identification Number (PID). Then click on the person's name and then on the name again (or "Person") and you will be able to look at the person in Family Search Tree.
