I have a confusing situation with one of my relatives that I need help with.

Emma Marie Katrine Vith L2B2-MCX

born 25 December 1887 in Maarslet, Aarhus, Denmark

There are 3 different fathers named in various records.

birth record:

mother is unmarried Maren Vith, daughter of Marius Vith

child’s father Mikael Jensen, Odder Sogn

confirmation record:

same mother

child’s father Søren Sørensen in Pederstrup

Emma emigrates to the U.S. and all known records in the U.S. have the same mother, but the father is now named as Julius Michael Jorgensen.

Emma’s mother was never married to any of these men. I am wondering if I have read the birth and confirmation records correctly. Do I have the fathers named correctly according to the birth & confirmation records? Does anyone know what the comments in the last column of the birth record say?

The birth and confirmation records are both attached.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

The confirmation record is saying that Maren Vith is a servant/worker of farm owner Søren Sørensen. It is not saying he is the father.

The birth/christening record is saying that the mother claimed the father was batchelor Mikael Jensen of Odder parish.

I would go with the father as recorded in the birth/christening record.
