Death of church member
Have things changed? A few years ago when my mother passed away and the ward clerk entered her death date into her membership record, her record showed up on FS and I was able to merge it with other ID's that had been created. My son passed away 5 months ago and I have not seen his membership ID show up on FS. When I talked to the bishop of his ward shortly after his death he said he would see that the date got entered right away. Are these records not showing up anymore?
Thank you,
Margaret Thompson

Membership records do still show up in Family Tree shortly after death information is added to a member's record. Contact the ward clerk in your son's ward and let him know that this has not happened yet. Bishops do get pretty busy so maybe he just forgot to pass the information on to the clerk.
If the record still doesn't show up, post a generic message under Temple under Q and A such as "Dear Support, I need you to add death information to a close family member's church membership record. Please contact me via direct message so I can provide the information." They will need some type of supporting document such as a link to his obituary or a scan of his death certificate.
Sorry to hear of your loss. I had to contact support to do this for an uncle who passed away because I had no idea where his membership record might be since he had not attended church since he was a child. It worked just fine.

Thank you for your help. I will contact his ward and then follow through further if needed.
