Lithuania - mid-1800;s (Lashski)
Hello,
I am new to researching in Poland. In the mid-1800 the City of Marijampole in Lithuania was under Polish Rule. I am trying to trace my ancestors who lived in the Starapole region in Marijampole around 1850 -1890. Where in Poland do they hold records for this region? I'm thinking I need to start looking for the records in the Suvalkai region.
My ggf was born about 1860 in this town and his brother was born about 1872. The father's surname was changed but his mother's surname was something like Lashski.
I need to ask are any of these records in English?
Thanks for all replies.

We are so glad you have joined our Polish community - It is a great place to get help and to help others! We have a lot of talented, experienced participants here.
Be sure to review the links at the top of our community page for some great resources - we add new ones as we find them.
We look forward to hearing from you. Most of the time, it is best to "ask a question" - do this by selecting the arrow to the right of "new discussion". Asking a question allows you to accept the answer or let us know you would like more help.
This reply to you will show as a rejected answer - I mark it this way so that your post will still show as a question and not show as answered because my reply does not answer your question, it just offers you some ideas.
Thanks for being patient as we sometimes have to wait for a response to come from a volunteer with the needed skill set. It would be good if you included the identification number of the person in Family Search Family Tree so we can see the bigger picture.
We look forward to your comments and questions.
Enjoy today! Cindy Jarvis
