Boucherett
Hi
I am looking for help finding my French Huguenot ancestors. I don't speak French, but am hoping somebody can help me find or tell me where to search for the following records.
- My ancestor Matthew Boucherett married in London in 1644 (Huguenot Threadneedle Church) and died in London in 1671. He was born in Amiens (probably between 1600-1620) and his parents were Gedeon Boucherett (born in about 1578 in Rye England to Huguenot parents) and Jane (surname not known, but also born in England). I am also looking for Gedeon and Jane's marriage, which I have not found in England. Gedeon Boucherett was born to Hugenot parents in England (most likely Rye) after they fled to Rye in 1568. His father was Guillam (William), who died in Rye in 1580 and was a merchant. I do not know his mother's surname, but it may have been Botlar. As far as I can understand the family returned to France, probably through the Edict of Nantes, but Gedeon returned to England again later and lived in Lewes (Sussex). Where can I find Matthew's birth/baptism in Amiens, whether he had siblings and a marriage for his parents?
- Guillam (William) Boucherett (Guillam Bucheret) was a huguenot who fled to Rye in 1568 from Dieppe with a wife and at least 1 son Elye (Helie). Elye married in Canterbury England (Walloon church) in 1583 (to Mary Leclure). Another son named Elisee may also have come with them from Dieppe. I was hoping to find records for these in Dieppe. Guillam had a further son Jeremy and his 4th son was my ancestor Gedeon. He also had a daughter named Rebecca. I do not know who Guillam's wife was, but her brother was named Godarte Botlar, who had a son named William Botlar. Is it possible to find Guillam's marriage or the names of his parents or wife?
- Does anybody know what happened in Dieppe in 1568 to make them flee to Rye?
- Jeremye and Elise Boucherett were merchants in Dieppe in 1627, so must have returned to France from Rye. I was hoping to find what happened to them (or to Rebecca or Eliye).
Thank you for any help

This is the best place to begin your search. I would search for one piece of information at a time. List the records you want to find and the information you already have and check them off one at a time. It will be very confusing if you try to find all of this information at once. You are fortunate that you have so many details to begin your search with.
This site has links to records by region.

I would like to invite you to enter these names and information in FamilySearch Family Tree, it would be easier to visualize these people and to use the research tools from their record.
