Help with a place name in Valborg, Gavleborg, Sweden
In the moving in record of Lars Eriksson (b19/7 1858) to Valbo, Gavleborg it looks like he was going to a farm called "Prostgl.." but I can't find any such place in the index for Valbo.

Hi @Geri Brinley ,
The word in the moving-to column is Prostgd. meaning Prostgård. It's not a place name, but it does refer to a place in the parish. It's the residence of the Provost (in English) which is Prost in Swedish. In the Nordic countries a Prost is the leader of a Provsti which is equivalent to a Kontrakt (a geographical area in the Swedish Lutheran church that is made up of multiple parishes. It's like a Deanery). The Prost was the immediate superior to a parish priest. In this case, the residence of the Prost was in Valbo. The move-in record shows Lars Eriksson moved to p. 285 which is in the AI:21a household examination record. In looking at the record, the head of household is the Kontraktprost.
