Looking for Town translation help and location

This town is believed to be on the Germany/French/Swiss boarder as that's where most of the family seems to be from! Any help in locating this city? Boarder towns keep seeming to change during this time frame. He was born in 1818.

I had commented on another answer that for some reason disappeared.

I suggested that taking into account a bad writing due to phonetics and removing the suffix that refers to the town or village, the city could be Eckartswiller, in France

I would start the search there.
