Ward TFH Plans

WE are doing "DISCOVER ONE IN 2021". My husband the Temple and Family History Leader, presented this in a Sunday class we had to ZOOM because we were only having Sacrament meeting at that point. The idea is for families to discover just ONE ancestor: learn about them, what did they eat, what historical events did they live through? If possible do their temple work, but devote a year to finding and learning and getting to know just ONE ancestor. Then in September we will have a WArd "Family History Fun Day" and each family will set up a space on a table where they portray a picture of the ancestor and display something about them. As a ward we will enjoy getting to know that ancestor. Workshops will be held to help members learn how to search for an ancestor, and do Family History.

@LisaMortonMills What an awesome class. Thanks for sharing. I wonder if anyone else has done anything like this in their classes?

Our ward plan this year is simple.
1st quarter - ward members will sign in to FamilySearch and explore
2nd quarter- ward members will add a memory ( youth are making a how to video to help)
3rd quarter - ward members will add an ancestor to the tree and print the card or submit the name
4th quarter - ward members will index a batch each
The Relief Society and Elders Quorum are directing and encouraging these efforts. Ward TFH consultants keep working with individuals as usual.
