My mystery grandfather
I've been trying very hard to find some concrete information about my grandfather from Poland (Galicia). All I know is that he emigrated to Canada in 1912. I found what I believe to by his emigration ship record to Quebec from Liverpool. Under the name of Bonaventura Pukal. Always told his name was "Ben" but I guess it is a short form. I have virtually nothing else concrete. Born 1883 (or 1885) and mentions have been made about coming from Krakow but I have no proof. His ship record says he is Roman Catholic and was single at the time. I can find no birth or baptism or military or other records in Poland. Anybody have any advice? I have done tons of research about what was going on in Poland at the time and it seems very unsettled, no wonder he decided to up and leave. But I would dearly love to find out about his other family members etc. Barbara
