Louisiana - Where would I find Orphans Records 1830s - 1840s
Joshua Dale Cochran is my direct ancestor, and he was an orphan. Find a Grave has a record of him; here is the link - https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/13433330/joshua-d-cochran. Find a Grave indicates that Joshua was born in Mississippi, but I have found a document that shows he was born near Duck River in Maury County, Tennessee.
I do not have a public family tree on Ancestry. I have found a family tree on Ancestry that best reflects the information I know about the Cochran family; here is the link: https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/person/tree/19927904/person/29126825737/facts. Joshua D. Cochran's father's name is Edward Cochran (1799 – 1830). I understand that Edward met and married Esther "Easter" Dale in Maury County, Tennessee. Edward Cochran and his father-in-law, Joshua Dale (1760 - 1835), fought in the War of 1812 in Mississippi and Louisiana. I have not been able to find a bounty land or pension for either man. After the war, Edward Cochran and Joshua Dale moved to Claiborne County, Mississippi. It is not clear when Esther Dale died. Edward appears to have moved to Louisiana after Esther's death. I found information that suggests he was living in (Catahoula, Concordia, and Tensas) Parish. Joshua and his siblings, John and Hester, were found floating down a Missouri River on a raft after his death. I am trying to find out how the children raised in Louisiana were found years later in Missouri. The Miller County Missouri Court placed the children with farm families in as indentured servants until they turned 21.
I looked in the following locations for records on Edward Cochran's family in Louisiana and Mississippi:
Courts – I have found succession records at the Concordia Parish using FamilySearch
Land Records – I have found some land records using BLM-GLO
Manuscripts – I found some leads in Natchez Trace Collection at the University of Texas at Austin
Military records - at the state (Mississippi) and federal level – No records were found
Newspaper – I have a few articles but no information that helps in the genealogy search

I am trying to locate the book -
