I'm new to the group and have an issue with my GGrandfather, Samuel Steele, who I have been looking
During Rootstech I got a firm lead that he was actually born in Scotland. I have firm evidence that he arrived from Scotland in 1865 via ship. The next lead I got was in immigration records where Samuel Steele, age 27 (exactly right) arrived in Quebec, Canada from Scotland in 1865. Ship's name is St David, Shipping line: Allan. St. David left Glasgow, Scotland on 25 April 1865, arriving 27 May 1865. This is a lot of information, right?
I have a copy of the original ship's manifest but need help finding any other passenger information from the Glasgow port. Any clues from the group would be much appreciated.

Bonnie, you're right, that IS a lot of information. You're really fortunate to have found so much. Did Samuel actually sail from Glasgow, or was it Port Glasgow, or Greenock? Those are all separate departure points on the River Clyde.
There is some information about the Allan line at http://www.norwayheritage.com/p_shiplist.asp?co=allan
As the company was based in Canada, the national archives there have some passenger lists https://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/discover/immigration/immigration-records/passenger-lists/passenger-lists-1865-1922/Pages/introduction.aspx and this website https://www.gjenvick.com/OceanTravel/SteamshipLines/AllanLine.html seems to host an interesting collection specifically relating to the history of the company. Hope you are able to find out a little bit more about Samuel's voyage!

Scottish records are brilliant. Check familysearch for vital events and then view the free indexes at the Scotlandspeople website. Ship's lists are hit and miss, especially for that time period so I would spend my time looking for records of vital events.

Here are a few websites that identify the location of Scotland emigration records. Outgoing passenger lists don't begin until 1890, but there may be other helpful information in these to help answer your question.
