How do I find records of my grandfather being a deserter in WWI? He disappear in 1929 after his wife

It would be helpful to the volunteers here if we had the name, dob, location, family members info etc for the person you are searching ... additionally, a link to their profile on the FSFT (PID) would be really great! 😊 without the info we need in order to search, I’m afraid you’ll be left with not many answers to your question and/or general answers like “check old newspapers” “findagrave” “Nara” etc

Thanks for answering me. First try at this and I don't think you were rude. Now that I know what is needed. Benjamin Perry Monagan (K2H9-SYV), DOB 9 Oct 1900 (he was adopted, so date could be wrong), Ithaca, Tompkins, New York. His wife died Ida Mae Holley (KZTP-F4Q) on 30 Jun 1929, Ithaca, Tompkins, New York. Benjamin's had signed her Death Certificate. That was the last time I found info on him. When the Newspaper was looking for Benjamin, they contacted his sister who said the government said that he had deserted the Army. He registered for WWI on 12 Sep 1918 and his first child, DOB 13 Jan 1918 and DOD 15 Jan 1918, probably the reason he deserted. I have never heard of anybody searching for someone who had deserted and was just picking your brains and see how to go about researching him. Any information is appreciated. I have broken down his were about on ancestry (Benjamin Perry Monagan - Facts (ancestry.com)(ancestry.com). I hope that link works - doesn't look right. Thanks for any information, and your time in checking this out.
