Yes, it should open in another tab. Once you have examined the hint and attached it (or marked as "Not a Match") it is best to close the "Source Linker" tab, whereupon you will be returned to the original, Person page and can repeat the process in adding / examining any further hints being offered.
In short, unless you close the pages yourself, you could end up with multiple pages left open.
By the way, the hint you have being working on will still be displayed when you return to the Person page - but will disappear when you either refresh the page or go on to the "next" hint.

Thank you Paul for answering this really annoying issue. Thee multiple windows are extremely frustrating and confusing. These multiple windows are one of the main reasons I use Ancestry. Seems like the new or "next" hint should open in the same window. The good and one of the most important finds for me was the death certificate for my bio-father! Thank you for this information.
I still think it is an unnecessary step to the consumer to have 2-6 extra windows to get relationships to family members trees completed.
