What does Derbyshire N. K. mean?

I am attempting to reconcile documents to ensure the family line in properly linked (unbroken chain). While doing verification and clean-up I noticed an entry in the 1861 census source to William Dean, 1857–1937, KWZT-662 that listed his father John Dean being born in "Derbyshire N. K." Our records currently have him baptized in Kirk Ireton, 32 miles from where this census was taken. I know the census to be a true record of the family relationships and places because several of Williams children were known to me.

I am thinking the entry is saying that John, William's father was born in Derbyshire, place not known. If anyone knows diffeently I would appreciate your thoughts.

The URL to William Dean's record in FamilySearch is: https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/KWZT-662

Thanks,

Bart

NK does mean Not Known. Why it's not known is another matter, of course.

Derbyshire was the county and the not known would mean that the person answering the enumerator knew that the person was from Derbyshire County but not which town or village within that county.
