What do you mean by indenturement books? Do you mean Skudsmaal?

A Skudsmaal was the employee's reference book that an employer would write in at the end of the work season. The book was used as character reference or resume for the next employer. Can you upload a couple scanned pages?

It is really hard for me to read the writing

i was always told differently. I was told that these we work books that traveled with them from job to job, but it was because they were indentured. Would you please explain more about this custom and the details surrounding this book
