Hi, I just received a marriage certificate for Jane Fyfe and James Tait from the GRO and am having t
Specifically I need help reading the Rank or Profession of Father (Hugh Tait), the residences at the time or marriage. I have been doing some searching for Hugh Tait but found nothing conclusive. The marriage was in the presence of George Fyfe (he is the brother of Jane Fyfe) and Maragret? Tait, who I am unaware of. Can anyone help me with reading this and perhaps finding records for Hugh Tait and Margaret Tait? Thanks.

Groom: Castle Terrace, Willesden, Middlesex, [ London, England ]
Bride: 'Woodlawn', Willesden [ Junction ], Middlesex, [ London, England ]
......... [ where 'Woodlawn' is possibly a 'House'; or, 'Property', name, perhaps ]
......... [ that word being a Abbreviation, something like "Junction" or similar ]

I did find a reference to "Willesden Junction" in this ...

Occupation of "Hugh TAIT" ...
.
Possibly, that of, either, (1) Minister (deceased); or, (2) Musician (deceased)
.
I hope this helps.

Thanks. That does help. For the occupation of Hugh Tait, Minister could make sense. I've been told that they were related to the Archbishop of Canterbury: Archibald Campbell Tait, although I still can't figure out how (I thought this document would solve the mystery).

As an aside ...

One of the BEST ways to find out if you are "Connected"/"Linked" to someone, in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch', is by using (BYU) "RelativeFinder".
.
Provided, your "Ancestral" lines, are extensive enough, in "Family Tree"; then, (BYU) "RelativeFinder" they should be able to 'See' your "Relationship" with, "Famous People"; and, many, "Others"; PLUS, you can ALSO "Print" the connections/links between themselves and those they find a connection/link through in (BYU) "RelativeFinder" ...
.
(BYU) "RelativeFinder" digs (pun intended) a lot DEEPER in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch', than 'FamilySearch' does.
.
(BYU) "RelativeFinder" is one of the "Third Party" Applications that "Certified" to work with "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.
.
BYU = Brigham Young University, in Provo, Utah, USA (ie. the Church University).
.
From the "Family History Technology Laboratory", of the "Computer Science" Department.

Here is direct link to "RelativeFibder"

.
"RelativeFinder" has MANY 'Bells and Whistles', that you might find useful.
.
Apart from "Famous People" and "Others" ...
.
(BYU) "RelativeFinder" has some interesting options ...
.
There is an option to see if there is a 'Connection' between yourself and a "Deceased" individual/person in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.
.
.
There is an option to see if there is a 'Connection' between two (x2) "Deceased" individuals/person in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'
.
.
There is an option to see if there is a 'Connection' between ("Living" - Users/Patrons) Friends in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.
.
.
It is a great "Tool" ...
I know, I use it ...
.
Give it a go ...
Magic ...
Enjoy ...

Yes, I'm seeing Minister for Hugh's occupation. The record also says Jane's father William was an artist, and both fathers were deceased. James himself was a civil engineer, and they were married in a Presbyterian church. And I agree with Brett's readings of the residences.
