This is the earliest record I've found of my great grandmother using the name Augustina Finer and appearing with my great grandfather Anders Kuhla..

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CS4S-7ZT7?i=284&cc=2805467&personaUrl=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AQLJP-Y5Y9

Please note that her name is entered twice, and one of the entries appears to be crossed out. There is also a small notation above it which appears to contain another name. Any thoughts on what it says? Might it be a previous spouse? I ask that because I've been unable to find a "Finer" baptism record in her hometown (per family records) for her birthdate. There is an "Augustina" baptism record there of the correct date but the father is Michel Lindquist. Thanks in advance for looking at this!

The notation above her crossed-out name in the record says she is the widow of deceased sharpshooter B. J. Finér. After she marries Anders Dragunoff C.(?) Kuhla, then she is listed as a wife (hustru). I would say she is going by her deceased husband's name (Finér) instead of her maiden name. I would try to find her in a previous record listed as Augustina Michelsdotter or Augustina Lindquist.

In the remarks at the far right of the page for the line where she is crossed out, it says her (first) husband died 4 June 1855. The notation for her on the line where her name is not crossed out says she was born in Thusby and is married a second time. There is also a note that she and Anders were married 4 December 1858.

Thank you very much. This is very helpful information! We had previously found a baptism record under the Lindquist/Michelsdotter name which matches her birthdate and birthplace.

If you could find her marriage record to B.J. Finér, that would give her maiden name and be the proof that you need to be sure that she is the person on your birth record. I have looked, but don't have enough information to locate the record.

Here is the proof I think you need. It is the birth of Alexandra Mathilda, 7 October 1851 to parents Bernt Johan Finer and Augustina Lindqvist. http://digihakemisto.appspot.com/edit?kuvanumero=55&kuid=7580196&amnimeke=Kaartin+seurakunnan+arkisto&sarnimi=Syntyneiden+ja+kastettujen+luettelot&aynimi=Syntyneiden+ja+kastettujen+luettelot+1845-1866+%28I+C%3A3%29&ay=1683849&sartun=214133.KA&atun=123213.KA&ay2=117025 .

There is another child, Henrik Johan, born 16 January 1854 to the same parents: http://digihakemisto.appspot.com/edit?kuvanumero=70&kuid=7580151&amnimeke=Kaartin+seurakunnan+arkisto&sarnimi=Syntyneiden+ja+kastettujen+luettelot&aynimi=Syntyneiden+ja+kastettujen+luettelot+1845-1866+%28I+C%3A3%29&ay=1683849&sartun=214133.KA&atun=123213.KA&ay2=117025

Wow. Very interesting and valuable information. I had no idea that my grandmother (who died many years before I was born) had a half sister and half brother. Lots of work to be done with this treasure trove that you have unearthed for us. Thank you very much!
