張 CHONG family from Niumianpu village 牛 眠 埔 Tangxia district 塘 夏
Dongguan county 东 莞 GUANGDONG, CHINA

I am looking for help with my Chinese ancestry. A relative visited the Niumianpu village a few years ago but could not find the genealogy of my great-grandparents:

 張 廷 俊 Chong Tenn Tsun or Tin Tsun or Chau (husband)

 陳 恩 召 En Chau Ching (wife)

They left the Niumianpu village in China in 1891. We have some information like the documents attached, but it is in Romanized Hakka so it is hard to translate.

I only speak and write in English, so getting this much information has taken years.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I live in the US. The CHONG character is the family name. I have a picture of the village from 1919 they called Yun On.

CHONG Tenn Tsun was said to have come from a village near Canton named Toon Khon. I assume it is Hakka, so I am not sure what the characters are for it.

Canton Toon Khon is the big city where have a lot of Hakka. Let's wait somebody knows Hakka to answer your question on the images.​

Thank you - I will look into that. My cousin's wife visited the village in 2014 but due to time constraints could not get genealogy information.

Oh, then contacting the Ofice of Foreign & Overseas Chinese is not necessary.

 

If your wife still has village contacts, she can probably have them find a copy of the village genealogy book. Sometimes, a copy is not available in the village and whoever has a copy needs to make a copy and bring it back to the village.

 

But, you need to have this done way in advance.
