Need help translating record in Swedish Examination book.

record is at:

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSGH-3QQF-M?i=60&cc=2790465&personaUrl=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AQLKH-N6Y9

FS has indexed the last 3 records on this page as:

Gustaf Vilhelm Åkerström,Parent

Karin Sandström Wife Female

Vilhelm Georg Åkerström Child.

Why are all 3 names crossed out? Is Vilhelm really their child, wife Karin would have been 58 years old! What is the sentence in the right hand page? Does that shed any light on the situation? Thanks in advance for all your help!

They are crossed out, because Gustaf Vilhelm died and Karin with Vilhelm Georg moved out.

Vilhelm Georg is a foster child and his mother is Anna Karolina Åkerström from Söderhamn.

Thank you!! Do you know of any info that might explain how fostering children worked in those days? Just curious about how long the child would have stayed with them. The child, Vilhelm Georg Akerstrom has the foster father's last name listed. Thanks again.

This case is very interesting. Mother of Vilhelm Georg, Anna Karolina was first a foster child to Gustaf Vilhelm and Karin. When she was 17 years old she left to be a maid in other house (was already pregnant). Then she came back, gave birth to Vilhelm Georg and after 3 years, left again to work for some one else leaving her son to her foster parents. That explains the last name.

But I do not know why Anna Karolina was a foster child. She lived at home until she was 15 years old. and after that she moved to her foster parents. Parish books don't give any explanation. Usually 15-year old was old enough to go working and maids or farmhands or to learn a trade.

Anna Karolina's father was a soldier Hård.

Gustaf Vilhelm and Karin were a childles couple, so maybe they wanted to have a child.

In many cases foster children got some relationship with foster parents. Maybe their own parent were dead or they were so poor that they needed to give some of their children away. And then some of their relative took their children and fostered them. There does not seem to be a close relationship in this case.

Anna Carolina with her birth parents (Lars Erik Hård and Margreta Carolina Moberg) before moving into Gustaf Vilhelm Åkerström and his wife Karin:
