I'd like to help my sister-in-law find more information about her birth. She was adopted from Korea by an American family when she was 9 months old. Any ideas on where to start?

The American family who adopt her may have information of her background.

KAMRA325.org might be able to help her. They help me out telling me how to request her US Immigration paperowrk, which will contain some of her Korean adoption paperwork. This paperwork could show parents names, but may only have children's home info. Next I would DNA test with 23andme and Ancestry, she might get lucky. I ended up having to fly to Japan and meeting with a distant DNA cousin and then took 3 days to find her mother. So this could end up with a dead end or a happy reunion never know. Be prapared for a long search.
