Im searching for information on my great great gandparents who came from Belgium in 1871, Elie Waranghien and Theresa Bourguignon. They were married in 1872 in braidwood, Illinois. I have attached a page from the family bible about their marriage. Elie Waranghien, born in "Cargnon" (Quaregnon) 1837-05-29 in the province of Hainau (modern day spelling Hainaut) and Th(?)erese Bourguignon, born in "Warnand" 1835-02-02 in the province of Liege
A gentleman provided my with some information he came across on Elie in a ten year table entry.
He then found a birth certificate for a Joseph Elie Warenghein (with an "e", not an "a") on 1838-05-29 (not 1837).
The father is Domitien Warenghein, a "charbonnier" (coal miner?), age 31, living in Quaregnon. The mother is Josephine Castéaux/Castiaux. The father could not sign his name (qui a dit ne savior le faire de la requis). Their other children were:
Pierre Philippe Désiré, born 1836-09-07 (image #834), died 1838-09-03
Jean Baptiste, born 1841-03-15
He could not locate any information on Theresa and I have not been able to come across any immigration records
Any help would be apprciated

Only a quick aside.
Charbonnier would mean;bringer of coals, miner of coal; or even (forest)charcoal-burner.
Given the location and the timeframe, easy guess, Hainault (Henegouwen) was famous and very well known
for its quality coals.so coal mine worker.
Henegouwen became worldfamous for the find of the iguanodons,in Bernissart,in a deep coalmine.

via cut copy paste, i would suggest to start your search here, in the civil frame/prompt, it will unfold if clicked
Warnand =Warnant

Catalog entry
Try to unfold civil by click. If you like you can search the whole batch of entry's.

The research I did on family search can be found on family search but what I found was her name was Wolter Thersa Marie Wolter her father is Lorents Wolter and her mother is Elizabeth Whilhelmine Schuchardt. They are a little hard to follow as they have common names and close dates. I tried to source them exactly, but I too had a difficult time following the rhythm. I will give you the ID #'s so you can find them easier. The first Elle is gswn-ytt B. 1837 SP. Bourguenoe the Father Elle is gswj-m6z Sp Wolter I hope this will help you, there is much ordinance work to be done on them, but I didn't print them.

Thank you very much. Its important to our family to learn as much about our Belgium ancestry as possible. Unfortunatley the Waranghien family line didn't evolve any further because neither of their two remaining sons had any children.
Was Theresa Bourgunoe's father Lorents Wolter and her mother Elizabeth Whilhelmine Schuchardt ?
I'm new to the family search so some of this is a little bit confusing but I'll follow your leads this weekend.
Again i appreciate your help
Mike
