About the death of # 54 parts 2 & 3, Olaus Theodor Hansen.
I am interested in this entry for Olaus Theodor Hansen, who is LRBP-812 in Family Search. He is the son of unmarried Albert Nielsen 27XL-S5T and Anna Knudsen 27XL-S5Y.
His mother Anna Knudsen 27XL-S5Y married the widow Thomas Hansen 27XL-S5Y in Olaus Theodor took the surname Hansen. He is listed in the 1885 and 1891 census in Kristiansand in the household of Thomas Hansen and his mother, Anna Knudsen.
There is no burial date listed in this entry, and I believe it says the last residence of Olaus Theodor Hansen was "New York." The death date is the same as the entry above his. I can't read the notes.
Did the two men listed here on 30 May 1901, with no burial date, drown with a ship? Were they sailors? Is that was the cause of death is (I couldn't find the word in my Norwegian-English Dictionary). And, what does the word before the father's name Albert Nilsen mean ("Matros?"). Is that a profession, or that he was unmarried when he had the child?
Thank you so much for all your help.
