Subject: Request Addition to 'FamilySearch' "Place Names' Database
.
Please add the following 'Place' to the 'FamilySearch' "Place Names" Database; as, being a 'bona fide' ''Registration District", for 'England and Wales', from 1935 to 1983:
.
Blyth, Suffolk, England
Blyth, Suffolk, England, United Kingdom
.
[ A "Standardised" version of BOTH - ie. with; and, WITHOUT, the "Suffix" of the 'United Kingdom' ]
.

Registration District: Blyth
Registration County: Suffolk
Created: 1935
Abolished: 1983
.
As yet, there is NO "Standard".

'Thank You' in advance.

Dear Brett,
The Registration District of Blyth, Suffolk, England, United Kingdom has been added to Family Search Places as per your request. Blyth, Suffolk, England was not added as this registration district appeared after United Kingdom was added to the official title. https://www.familysearch.org/research/places/?focusedId=11025058
Thank you for your interest in improving FamilySearch Places.
Best Regards,

'Thank You'.
.
But ...
That said ...
.
It is "Very", in fact, "Extremely", DISAPPOINTING that "Blyth, Suffolk, England" was NOT also added as a "Standard".
.
It may be 'Politically'/'Officially' correct to ONLY have the "Suffix" of "United Kingdom" ...
.
But, as my "Ancestry" is, "English" (ie. England); "Scottish" (ie. Scotland); and, "Irish" (but, not NI).
.
My, Grandparents; and, Aunts; and, Uncles, who I knew, personally, certainly considered themselves as "British"; but, from England, and Scotland; and, certainly NOT from the "United Kingdom".
.
And, even today, my Extended Family (including my "Aussie" Cousin would lives there permanently) in England and Scotland, who I have personally met, while we were over there, still considered themselves as "British"; but, from England, and Scotland - Oh, the "United Kingdom" is 'bandied about'; but, ONLY in passing; and, certainly only really after 1952, the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II (who is, in fact, my x12 Cousin).
.
England; Wales; Scotland; and, Northern Ireland", are Countries in their own right, they just come under the Union of the "United Kingdom" .
.
The United Kingdom refers to a political union between, England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
.
Although the United Kingdom is a fully independent sovereign state, the four (x4) nations of, England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, that make that union up, are ALSO Countries, in their own right; and, have a certain extent/amount of autonomy.
.
Therefore, I IMPLORE 'FamilySearch' to include the place (all-be-it, that being a "Registration District") of "Blyth, Suffolk, England", WITHOUT the "Suffix" of the "United Kingdom"; as, a separate and distinct "Standard" for Place Names'.
.
I WANT to see my Ancestry and Extended Family, in the "Fan Chart", with the "Colours" of "England" and "Scotland", certainly NOT that of the "United Kingdom".
.
Thank You' in advance.

Dear Brett,
You make some very good points, and I'll be working on this problem for you.
Using the Imperial Gazetteer and British History Online, I'll find the appropriate names and dates so we can get Blyth historical information into our database. Please be patient. I will get back to you soon.

'Thank You'.
There are MANY like that ...
I will be patient.
By the way ...
As an aside ...
How did that 'Heading'/'Title' of "... en.wikipedia.org ...", come into play?
Brett
ps:
WOW ...
This was confusing ...
So, THIS was from the 'Group' being "FamilySearch Places" in the CURRENT ("Production" Environment) Platform; but, appearing in the NEW (ie. in "Limbo" Environment) Platform; as, the "Change Over" of Platform will NOT be occurring (for at least x3 or so Days) until the night of Sunday 14/Monday 15 March 2021 ('Mountain Time').
.
I will have to take a look in the CURRENT ("Production" Environment) Platform ... that will be interesting.
.
WHOA ...
.
I just took a look in the CURRENT ("Production" Environment) Platform ...
.
The ORIGINAL post ...
https://community.familysearch.org/s/feed/0D54V000053Y15QSAS
.
There is NO "Mirror" / "Duality" ...
.
The ORIGINAL post ENDS with MY 'Post' of x3 Months ago.
There is NOTHING added to that of the post of 5 March 2021 by 'Jeanine'.
And, NOTHING of my post of just NOW.
.
And, I found out how to GET RID of that 'Heading'/'Title' of "... en.wikipedia.org ...",
.
I am lucky that I still remember, my old days, as a Website Administrator; and, HTML coding ...
.
I am NOT, happy with; or, enjoying, this NEW ('Vanilla') Platform ...
.

FYI

Reference the NEW ('Vanilla') Platform for the "Community.FamilySearch' Forum ...
.
This 'Post" has ALREADY been "Transferred" over; despite, the fact that the "Change Over" of Platform will NOT be occurring (for at least x3 or so Days) until the night of Sunday 14/Monday 15 March 2021 ('Mountain Time').

@Brett . your frustrations with Vanilla have been noted.

I think the Places team have been transferring stuff over for some time. The last response I had from them (I hope it was them, else I'm misleading you) was off the Vanilla platform. Maybe they're an internal pilot user - it would make sense...
