I cannot even image why his surname, Mortensen, is crossed out and is replaced with Sørensen in his birth record. The notes on the parents say that the "said to be" father is Morten Nielsen Lund. Thinking that perhaps Ane Marie had married a Søren and perhaps Sørensen was his adoped name, I tried to find him with the name Laurs Sørensen. After looking for Laurs Sørensen in the censuses for Brovst, Hjorring, Denmark, without any success, I finally widened the search to all of Hjørring-still nothing! After widening the search and looking for Laurs Mortensen I finally found them in Åby, Hvetbo, Hjørring. That indexed census record is here: https://www.danishfamilysearch.com/cid14176244 . It looks like his parents got married and, I hope, lived happily-ever-after.

Yes, the parents did marry and lived a long time together. I really appreciate all the time you spent to answer my questions. It has been so helpful!
