Does this look like a marriage record for Peter Bruste Aursnes/Peter Jacobsen of Aursnes KZQ2-PSP a
Here is a marriage record for Peter Jakobsen Aursnes and Agnete Marie Jensdatter entry #3
https://media.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/15987/49523/5
Is this the record of the couple listed above KZQ2-PSP, If you check the information on sources in FS you'll be able to see why I think this could be the right couple. I would like help translating names, dates, fathers names, farm names, even witnesses to see if I can clarify any information that could show that this is the right record. My sister is the one who put Peter Bruste Aursnes and Hette Agnette. Norm Baker and I have not been able to find verification that these names are correct. I'm following this trail of Peter Jakobsen Aursnes and Agnete Marie to see if I can make any conclusions. My sister's sources list "Personal family possessions" but she doesn't know where they are, and doesn't have time to look. The only personal possessions that I'm aware of are in my mother's overgrown LOL basement jungle. We have a family Bible that could have it in. But I haven't seen that since 1980, and my parents moved 3 times after that, and it probably won't be found again till I empty her home when she passes on.
Any translation, clarification that you can help me with in this reference could be very helpful in my search to find Peter Jakobsen Aursnes/Peter Bruste Aursnes. Thanks in advance.

https://media.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/15987/49517/26 here is the birth of their son, Jacob Olaus, in the witnesses, I see a similar farm name, I think.
Also a possible brother, Jens Jacobus whom Norm Baker helped me find. Jens only lived 10 days. I'd like help deciphering possible witness names and christening information. Here is his birth and death record.
Birth entry #16 https://media.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/15989/91682/18
Death entry #24 https://media.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/15989/100
Also in possible duplicates there is a Jens Jacobus that is the son of a Lars Peter Jacobsen Aursnes LH3G-ND7. Which is a bit confusing because this Lars Peter Jacobsen Aursnes is born in Ørskog, Møre og Romsdal not Aursnes, Leikanger, Møre og Romsdal. So why do the birth records of the two sons say Aursnes, yet the sources say Ørskog. What is confusing is that all the other information for Lars Peter and Agnete Marie is the same for my Peter Jakobsen Aursnes. I'd really like to get to the bottom of this.
Thanks in advance.

Why is Aursnes not listed in Ørskog, Møre og Romsdal, in the family search wiki information, yet it's obvious that Aursnes is in Ørskog, Møre og Romsdal based on the Digital Archives. This one is confusing for me. And a side note, family tradition has me distantly related to James Arness(Marshal Mat Dillon) and his brother Peter Graves(Mission Impossible) and when I searched google for "Aursnes, Norway History" I get this https://talknorway.no/james-arness-western-hero-and-norwegian-viking/
which lists James and Peter and their grandfather, Peder Andreas Olsen Aursnes – born at Aursnes – in Ørskog Sykkylven, Møre og Romsdal, Norway. So I know that FS has Aursnes in Leikanger parish, Møre og Romsdal but all the other sources Aursness in Ørskog Sykkylven area where the rest of this family is from. I think if I could get to the bottom of the actual location, it would answer a bunch of questions, on whether or not Peter Jacobsen Aursness and Lars Peter Jacobsen Aursness are the same person. Because I cannot find anyone in the Leikanger Parish, but I do find them in Ørskog. Also, if his first name is actually Lars, wouldn't his children be known as Larsen? Yet his marriage record doesn't have Lars, it only has Peter. I'm sorry, I keep going round and round in this, it's making me nuts.
Thanks for all your understanding and help with this family. If I can get to the bottom of this I want to be able to move on.

In answer to your first question about the marriage, I am 95% that these are the same people in the record and in family search. Congratulations on finding it!!
This is what the record says:
Column 1: 3 (3rd marriage of that year)
Column 2 (the Groom): Bachelor (also means young man) Petter Jacobsen Aursnes 22 1/2 years old of Bondestanden)? (Not sure what that is, but all of the bachelors have it written in this column)
Column 3 (the Bride): Maid Agnete Marie Jensd(a)tt(e)r Tausche 19 1/2 years old
Column #4 (the Marriage Witnesses): Jacob Larsen Aursnæs (possible father of Petter) and Severin Jensen Tausche (possible brother to Agnete Marie)
Column #5 (the Marriage Date): the 3rd Jan(uary) 1819
Column #6 (if the marriage was in the church or at home): In ? church. Not sure what the middle word is.

Question #2-birth of Jacob Olaus
There is no doubt that this is the correct Jacob Olaus Pettersen of your family. The father is Farmer Petter Jacobsen Aursnæs and the mother is Wife Agnette Jensdatter. The witnesses/godparents are Knud Larsen Kjempholl, Jacob Larsen Aursnæs, Iver Jacobsen Aursnæs, Ane Pernille Tausche and Ane Jacobsdatter Aursnæs.

Question #3-birth of Jens Jacobus Petersen Aursnes
This is the brother to Jacob Olaus Pettersen.
His parents are Farmer Peter Jacobsen Aursnes and wife Agnete Marie Jensdatter.
No witnesses are listed because he was baptized/christened at home. Children in Norway could be baptized/christened at home if there was a reason to believe that they might not survive until the priest could baptize/christen them. See this article on Norwegian records: https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/Norway_Church_Records especially the paragraphs iin the section How soon after birth should a child be christened in Norway?

Question #4-death of Jens Jacobs Petersen Aursnes
This record reports that he was baptized/christened at home 23 Sept and died 10 October.

Question #5-Aursenes, Leikanger or Ørskog parish
This is a little more complicated. Technically farm names where not part of a person's name, but were used to identify them. This is especially useful if there is more than one person with the same first name and patronym in a parish. Sometimes the farm name followed them when they moved to a new parish, so even though the children were born in Ørskog parish the name Aursnes (of Leikanger parish) could still be valid. The duplicates you are talking about should probably be merged if everything else matches.

Question #6-Peter Jacobsen Aursness and Lars Peter Jacobsen Aursness
They are probably not the same person. If you can give me the Personal Identification Number (PID) of each of them, I can look at the information and tell you better.

A research tip:
If you want to find the children of a couple do the following:
From the home page of Family Search, click on Search>Records. The page will say "Search Historical Records". Under "Deceased Ancestor's Information" leave the First Name and Last Name fields blank. Under "Search with Relationship" put in the father's names. In this example put in Peter Jacobsen. Then put in the mother's names. Put in Agnete Jensdatter. At the bottom of the page under "Country" enter Norway and that will let you put in Møre og Romsdal in the "State or Province" field. Hit search.
You will get a pretty comprehensive list of children (10) born to that couple. In this case they are all born in Ørskog-in other cases they may not be all born in the same parish. In either case, they need to be verified before putting them in Family Tree.
This works especially well in Norway because so many of the birth records have been indexed.

Thanks. I will try this out. It’s good for me to learn, not only for my own benefit, but because I’m a family history consultant in my ward. 😂 I mostly have been able to do other families in my tree without issues. But this particular family has been put on hold for a few years as records were not on the Digital Archives. I had to go to the Family History library and look through micro-fiche. I’m so excited it is online now. But I’m still struggling to find all of the answers. I so appreciate the support you’ve given me and all that I’ve learned in the process. If I can get answers on Petter Bruste(possibly Jacobsen) Aursnes listed above and His wife Hette Agnete (possibly Agnete Marie Jensdatter) and the clarification on their names, marriage, birth date, birth places, and parents I may continue to trace this family line. If we can’t come to a bonafide conclusion on their identities and proof of who they are and where they are from, then I’ll put them on hold again till more information is available. I have another branch on this line that has a similar issue. Petter Bruste Aursnes is my Dad’s father’s ancestor. My Dad’s Mother’s ancestor in 1700’s is presenting a similar issue. For the maternal line, I have a patriarchal line that goes to 750 A.D. and links me to Norwegian royalty, Ketil-Eten. But I am stuck proving one link. As the person my sister was able to get to has a different name than the person on the professionally done tree in my possession. The person she found is a possible alias used by the royal person in the tree that I have, and have no way to discover if the FS name we have is the actual royal on the patriarchal line in my home. At any rate, I don’t care so much about being royal as much as I want to find the correct information so I can do Temple work for families. And we are stuck at that point for now. But that is a story for a different day, and right now I’m doing the names of the people I have so far. I currently have 150+ ordinances on hold till temples reopen. 😁 So I started this Aursnes family. Hopefully we can verify who they were going backwards and I’ll have a correct direction to head. But for now until I can verify their names and why the names different in my written family history in my Mom’s basement, from the names I’m finding in the Digital Archives, I’m stuck as to finding their parents.
So, long story, but this is where I’m at. I may have to put them back on hold. I will finish finding their children for sure though. I have another option too. I have found family in Norway through Facebook and they are interested in genealogy. I could ask them if they know any of this information or if they can go look it up in Ørskog. They live in Alesund.

Edit:
I have had second thoughts about this. Hold up before you do any of these things. If there is some reason that Peter's name was changed from Lars Peter, then that would explain a lot. I have not be able to find a Peter Jacobsen Aursnes in the parish except for this Lars Peter Jacobsen. I will keep looking but I am not sure where to look.
Well, after looking through this family (Lars Petter Jacobsen Aursnes-LH3G-ND7) I am convinced that this family has the incorrect father listed. There are none of the birth records that have him as the father. The father is always Petter or Peter Jacobsen Aursnes-not once does Lars come into the picture. There is a Lars Peter Jacobsen Aursnes in the parish, but he cannot be the same as Peter Jacobsen Aursenes. Even the birth records of the children who have the last name of Larsen do not indicate Lars as being the father.
You should remove the relationship between Lars Petter Jacobsen (LH3G-ND7) and Agnete Marie Jensdatter (KGC2-BHT) and then replace him with your Petter Bruste Aursnes (KGC2-BHT) and then I would merge the two wives, Hette Agnete Jensdatter (KH3T-1XQ) and Agnete Marie Jensdatter (KGC2-BHT). The reason to do it that way is because there is another child and spouse associated with Lars Peter Jacobsen Aursnes (LH3G-ND7) and that relationship should probably be preserved. Are you comfortable with deleting the relationship and then merging the wives? See No. 4 below before doing this!!
I need to put a couple of things in here while I am thinking of them.
1-Peter Olaus born in 1829 has the wrong name. He should be Petter Nicolaj (Nicolai) Gregorius Jacobson Aursnes. Birth record here (#17): https://media.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/15987/72 . There is another Peter Olaus born in 1831-he is good! Except his name is Peter Olaus Joachim. His birth record is here (#27): https://media.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/15987/88 .
2-Bernt Johan Petersen Aursnes (KL6Q-PQJ) and Bernt Johan Larsen (L6R5-G69) are the same person. Bernt Johan Larsen has his birthdate as May 11, 1838. There was no child born in the parish on that date but Bernt Johan Petersen Aursnes was christened on that date. See here for that record (#34): https://media.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/15988/31 . Merge them but keep the name Bernt Johan Petersen Aursnes.
3-The marriage date (1807) for Lars Peter Jacobsen Aursnes and Agnete Marie cannot be correct-he would have been 12 years old according to the birth date (1795) given for him and Agnete would have been 10. But that will go away when you remove the relationship.
4-Jacob Larsen Orsnes 1769–1834 LH3G-FWH could actually be the father of your Peter Jacobsen Aursnes (remember one of the marriage witnesses was Jacob Larsen Aursnæs) but only if Peter and Lars Peter were brothers. So that relationship, along with the spouse, Edel Pedersdr Aursnes (Hogres) 1772–1845 LH3G-FWL, should be kept track of and, perhaps, put back in after the merging. However, they may not be the correct parents of Peter Jacobsen Aursnes. That relationship still needs to be proved. We need to find Peter's birth record-that would clear up a lot of problems if we could identify his parents. Lars Peter's birth record is here (middle of the right hand page): https://media.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/15985/166 . I will spend some time looking for Peter's birth record. If Jacob Larsen Orsnes and Edel Pedersdr Aursnes (Hogres) are your Peter's parents then either he couldn't have been born before about 1790 or the birth dates for Jacob Larsen Orsnes and Edel Pedersdr Aursnes (Hogres) are incorrect. They would have been too young to have gotten married and started a family before then.
I just read through that and I am not sure I understand it! Sorry about that. I guess the important part is just to keep track of Jacob Larsen Orsnes and Edel Pedersdr. Aursnes (Hogres), just in case!! This note may be adequate for that.

Hey Norm, I just thought that I'd share my progress with you. I'm friends on Facebook with my second cousin, Sølvi Bendiksen. She lives in Norway. She has introduced me to other second cousins. Sølvi has a "Birth-Day" book that belonged to her mother. She was able to confirm several things for me. My other second cousin, Marit, introduced me to Oddmar Sandvid, another 2 cousin. He is the genealogist in the family in Norway. He and I have been conversing. It has been so fun. He answered the rest of my questions about Jakob Olaus Petersen Aursness. So apparently in the Sykkylven area there is a farm named, Ørsnes. This is the original name. So it's not the Aursness in the other town. He doesn't know why the Bruste is in Petter's name, because it's not in his family records. And neither is the mom, Hette Agnete. Oddmar confirmed that Peter Aursness listed as the father if Jakob Olaus in the digital archives record is the correct name, and that when he was younger his name was Lars Peter Jakobsen Aursness, and that his wife's name is Agnete Marie just like in the birth record. Oddmar also said that he's not familiar with the Bruste name, but said there is a farm named Brusdal in the Slettebakk area. I thought you might like hearing the solution to this puzzle. Thanks again for your support.

Thank you for sharing that. I am glad you are making connections in Norway! That is one of the main reasons we do this kind of work!

You’re welcome. It has been fun. Oddmar called knowledge about the family that came to the US, a “black hole” and is happy to learn about us.
