The people I am looking for are three sisters who, according to family tradition, should have been born in Moscow.
Elsa Henritte Dora born 1901-03-28, died in Oslo, Norway 1976
Lydia born 1902-04-06, died in Oslo, Norway 1966
Marguerita (Rita) born 1904-01-18, died in Stockholm, Sweden 1993
According to Elsa's death certificate, her and Lydia's father was named Joachim Epstein, who is said to have emigrated to Canada later.
The youngest daughter Marguerita (Rita) had another father who could have been an Englishman and his last name was Wilson. According to family tradition, both Epstein and Wilson had been businessmen and residents of Moscow.
The mother of the sisters was named Hedwig and was Jewish woman born 1874-11-07 in the Baltics or Germany according to her tombstone in Oslo where she died in 1955.
Is it possible to find birth certificates in Moscow? And possibly a wedding certificates for Hedwig's two marriages?
I am grateful for all the help and tips I can get to move on backwards. I have searched for the above facts on both Ancestry, Familysearch and Jewishgen without finding anything.
Best whishes and stay safe

Hello Torbjörn!
It might be possible to locate birth records, and marriage records (although they won't be civil certificates - but rather metrical records); however, research in a large city such as Moscow is often very difficult as there are many possibilities for parishes. Do you know what part of Moscow they may have lived in or any additional information?
You mentioned that Hedwig was Jewish - have you tried checking sources such as Jewish Gen and Jewish Roots (site is in Russian, but use Google translate to help you navigate it). Is the rest of the Family Jewish, or just Hedwig? If the entire family is Jewish, I would recommend using the forum on the Jewish Roots site linked above. There are some very helpful researchers there. You may also consider using VGD, another Russian genealogy site. This page on VGD is particularly useful for Jewish research in Moscow.
Hope this information helps!

Did you try checking the Jewish Roots and VGD links above? I think those are going to be your best bet. The VGD one is going to let you know what kind of Jewish records are available in archives in Moscow and information that will help you locate the record in an archive.
You might also try reaching out to the Jewish Museum in Moscow. They have taught courses on Jewish genealogy recently and you might be able to connect with a genealogy specialist there.

Ellie, I have looked at the pages you suggest, but the biggest problem for me is the language, even if I use Google Translate it is difficult to find the right pages.
