Hi Jane,
What a challenge you have with this family. It looks like you have some incorrectly combined records to deal with first ( sources and dates and places from several areas, christening before birth, wives of John Davies living at the same time, one marriage shows him as a gentleman, son of a gentleman, while census record shows him a fireman etc).
In addition, there are no birth records provided as sources for Charles nor his half-sister Mary Elizabeth nor any of the other siblings. When searching for their births, I was unable to find any with a mother's maiden name of Stephens.
Have you been able to find the actual birth record for John Drew Brown? No such name shows in all of UK vital records in a 4 year span of his stated birth date. Does his marriage record show his mother"s maiden name? There seems to be some disputations about Charles' connections to the rest of the family.
After the clean-up you may want to start by getting some birth certificates for the known children and/or marriage certificates.
The GRO shows mothers' maiden names, so you may focus on that.
Good luck

Charles Drew Brown's marriage certificate (which I received from the GRO) shows his father as John Brown, collier, deceased. Charles Drew Brown's death certificate from Sandy Utah, shows his mother as Ann Stephens. The death certificate lists his father as Charles Brown, though...0

Hi Jane,
Sorry to hear that you have so many contradictions to deal with. Looking at his death record, the birth date differs from what he currently has listed as well. One wonders where the birth information came from and who decided to add it to findagrave. If the death certificate is so wrong about the birth date, what about the rest of it?
If Charles really has those siblings born to the same mother, then finding their births in the index should verify the mother's maiden name. Again you have a challenge there. Since so little information and almost no correct sources are listed for them, the possible maiden names so far are, Price, Davies, Brace and more. Maybe her second marriage record shows her as a widow and may also show her maiden name?
By the way, the widowed sister listed in the 1851 UK census attached to this family, Mary Ford, has the maiden name of Browning. It shows up in the birth index for the niece Eliza. Since she could be the sister of Ann, maybe researching her would bring you more information about the parents. A Mary Browning married a Henry Ford in 1844 in Abergavenny. There are at least a couple of Davi(e)s children born in the district with that maiden name for the mother. Is it possible that Ann could be a Browning?
Sorry to not be of more help. Common surnames in Wales is quite often a struggle.
If you are certain that the whole family is from Wales, you may want to separate out those attached records that are from Somerset.
I try to cement the sources for the descendants and work back by increments. Quite often I feel that I get more help that way.
Blessings to you in your efforts.

I suggest that you look at the information on Charles Drew Brown in the Family Tree on FamilySearch. There seems to be more than one entry for him. I looked at the one with ID# KWDJ-Z77 to view all the different submitters or editors. A lady, DeAnn Larsen, in the Salt Lake City area worked on Charles Drew Brown several years ago but I could not find her in the list of submitters for KWDJ-Z77. She had ordered some certificates.
The list of sources is pretty good for Charles but not as good for his mother Ann. The information in the 1851 census is very helpful and points to a few options. The 1841 census will be critical to locate. The marriage of Ann to John Davies is needed also before a lot more should be done on this investigation. Unfortunately the marriage source linked to Ann in FamilyTree seems to have a broken or non-existent link to the parish register image so I have attached it here. If you can find her in the 1841 census it may help with the next step. The birth certificates for her other children are probably necessary to help verify all the linkages.
