What is the best way to find my sister?
My father forced my mother to adopt out my sister and many of my other siblings. He was extremely abusive. I have done the DNA from Ancestry, put a voluntary adoption registry together for Oregon and the International Soundex Reunion Registry several years ago. I know both parents names, even the doctor's name that delivered her, and all of the information that would identify her. She was adopted in 1951, so she may not have been told she was adopted, this July she will be 70 years old, and I am a year older than her. How do we get this information before one of us dies? I have found the other children, some of them were reaching out as well. If I could just go into the the Oregon adoption record files I could find it easily, I can even recognize my parents handwriting. I even know what the last name of the adoptive parents are. But things aren't made that easy. So, what is a successful way to do this?
She was born in Ashland General Hospital, Oregon July 16 or 17 1951, parents Jean Fordie, from Sheffield, England and George S. Reilly born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I am one of her siblings, Jeanie Kohntopp.

Have you tried getting her info from the Oregon Adoption record?

Have you tried a DNA test like Ancestry or 23 & me ?

You mentioned you have the adoptive parents surname maybe just a google search will bring up some hits
Try Family search here I have found some recent records in the UK not sure about how current US records are available
I know where you are coming from
I have a sister adopted out in 1953 but she never new she was adopted until around 2000
She did not want contact ... sometimes you just have to live with their decision
My other siblings (3) have been found
