I'm trying to find information about an uncle that none of my family seems to have much information

I'm trying to find information about an uncle that none of my family seems to have much information on. His name was/is Elton Martin Champagne. He was born March 28th in 1947. This is all the information I can find. I was told that he passed away.

I was also told that he was placed in some type of mental facility. He was born in Littleton, New Hampshire.

Any idea what Country or State etc...?

Have you checked the search feature in Family search for people around that date or other family in the same area he lived?

Are you sure he is deceased?

Anything on the US social security death index for him?

Local cemeteries ? newspaper obits?

Find a Grave site is a good one to check.. there are others around

I can't find anything in the death index, cemeteries, or obituaries. I was told that he was in a mental facility, but no one knows which one. I'm thinking that his name was changed so I've been looking in probate records.
