Could someone please translate this birth record for my grandfather, Leonard Kube LD9J-M92? He emigrated from Volhynia, Russia, to Canada in 1900.
Thank you!

Ellie, Is Paulina's last name quite clear as Platz? It's probably right under the crinkled and scotch taped part. I ask because on other documents it appears at Pilz and Peltz.
Thank you.

It was a bit unclear. I went off what was written in Russian and also the equivalent of the name in German written in the blue ink.
Looking at it again, the Russian looks like it could possibly be Pilz. Peltz could also be a possibility. You’ll probably just want to keep looking at the various records available to decide on a spelling.
Volhynia was part of the St. Petersburg Lutheran Consistory, have you tried searching the St. Petersburg Consistory duplicate church records available through FamilySearch?
It also looks like FamilySearch has also filmed the actual parish records. You can access them both from the FamilySearch catalog. You might be able to find indexes to the records on sites such as odessa3.org blackseagr.org or sggee.org. Let me know if you need any help navigating these resources.

Thank you, Ellie. Yes, I have researched the records of FamilySearch and SGGEE and have found many of Leonard's siblings but not, alas, him. Would the odessa and blacksea websites have records for Volhynia?

Wait, Ellie. I did find Leonard's birth record in the Lutheran Church records. I have attached it here. He is #1669. Does this give a clearer picture of his mother's maiden name?

Wow, great find! Yes, in Russian, the maiden name is written as Пильцъ, there are a few different ways it could be transliterated, as either Pilz or Piltz. And I'm glad you found the image on AGAD! I totally forgot to mention that source - it's a good one Do you need the rest of the document translated?

I would love to have the whole entry translated. Thank you so much!
