    Abruzzo records 1700s

I am looking for a birth in late 1700s in Abruzzo, but familysearch only had the civil registrations. Is there any way to access Catholic records pre 1800?

There are no church records online., The only way to get the information is to write directly to the church. Most priests do not have time for genealogical projects so many times you will need to higher a professional researcher to go to the church to get the information. Even then many times they do not release the information to anyone except if they can prove they are a direct relative. I would suggest first writing to the church and pray that either the priest or the secretary is kind enough to get the information for you. Another way ius to go to the white pages of the Italian telephone book and see if you can find a living relative that might still live there no matter how distant the relationship is. Form a bond with that erson first the ask them if they would be willing to go to the church to get the records you want.

Toni22 is correct, the vast majority of church docs for Abruzzo of 1700's are not online.

However, depending on the location, a few records are actually available, in full or in indexed format.

Which city/village are you looking for?
