Where can I find records for the Evangelische Kirche for Wenecja or Marcincowo Gorne in the 1830's t
I have been searching for my ancestors Michael Birkholz (K89C-1B2) and Caroline Pommerenke (K8SV-QCL). I have been looking for them since 2004--and I finally found them this year in Znin, Poland. I found their marriage record from 1869 in the Znin Parish records (but that church did not start until 1847). Caroline's sister Wilhelmina was married there in 1861. I also found a birth record for their first daughter in January of 1875 in Jadowniki Bielskie. I have only been able to find them on Poznan Project and Geneteka.pl. The Hamburg passenger list says they were from Pommern and Patzig--so maybe they moved away from Znin after their first daughter was born--but I am mostly just trying to find their birth certificates so that I can confirm their parents, then hopefully find siblings and move backwards in time. Michael was born in September of 1836 or 1837 (some discrepancies in his records) and Caroline was born March 8, 1838 or 1842 (again, her death record and headstone don't match). I believe Caroline was in Marcinkowo Gorne for most of her life (because both her marriage record and her sister's say that their father died in Marcinkowo Gorne--by the time she married she was living in Wenecja/Venetia. I don't know where Michael was born, the marriage record just says he was from Venetia--but no Birkholz really show up in that area. I feel like I have just exhausted all of my resources searching for these birth records and I cannot find them. The family search catalog only has Catholic records for Marcinkowo Gorne (Gasawa) and Wenecja--I looked through those and couldn't find my family. Bartschin is also only Catholic records. I have started looking through google maps, and finding towns nearby and seeing if family search has any films on that area. I have written to the archives in Bydgoszcz and then Inowroclaw and I tried to hire a researcher over there and I am just at a loss. I have check the Schubin Evangelische records and I started the Labischin records as well. I just don't know which church protestants in that area went to before 1847 or where I can find those records. Thank you so so so so so much for any ideas.

- I have just checked MyHeritage and found there several family trees for Michael Birkholz with wife Karoline. His father is listed as Gottlieb Birkholz. I hope you have access to MyHeritage, if not please give me your e-mail and I will copy them for you, as I cannot send attachments in Community.
- I have also checked genealogiawarchiwach.pl and just entered at the biginning the surname Birkholz and got several records from the area around Znin.
- Have you also used Geneszukacz.genealodzy.pl searching exactly for Birkholz in entire Poland? Lodz province, wielkopolskie, pomorskie could be of interest to you.
- You may use pilot.pl to locate places, selecting name and moving mouse to another place without pressing on it, shows distance in red box in right lower corner. You will need to use Polish names of places. Kartenmeister.com may be helpful to get translations.
- meyersgaz.org will show you if you use German names, ecclesiastical places=parishes nearby and distances.
Below is copy of tree from MyHeritage of Michael Birkholz. Is he your man?

I have checked in kartenmeister.com for Evangelical parish for Wenecja and Marcinkowo. It is Znin. Unfortunately there are no Evangelical records for Znin before 1874 year in Family History Library Catalog or in Polish State Archives: szukajwarchiwach.pl or in genealogiawarchiwach.pl
International Ancestry.com for Germany which is free in Family History Library may have some records for Znin, but the Library is now closed due to pandemic.
I noticed that you found a birth record of their daughter in Jadowniki Bielskie, Civil Records Office in Barcin, starting in 1874. I congratulate you on finding it.
Maybe when the FHLibrary is opened we can check if International ancestry.com has any of those records.

Oh thank you so so so much for your help! I have not seen all of these websites, so I am going to copy this into my searching file and sift through it all for any clues. Oh thank you so much for your help! Oh yes, I do have access to My Heritage--thank you so much for the good idea. Michael's death certificate showed his father as Gottlieb, but it listed his mother as unknown and then his marriage record didn't list any parents for Michael, only the father of his wife. I am very excited for the library to open--I didn't know about International Ancestry.com--that would be really exciting. I wish I could take credit for finding the birth record for Michael's daughter, but a total stranger who was also researching the last name Birkholz first found it and told me it was on Geneteka and then the wonderful Sister Johnson got me the original record. I just can't thank you enough for the insight and help. That was so kind of you to help me! Bless you!

Glad to give you some more ideas for research. I use RootsMagic7 which for $29.99 provides hints to people of similar data in MyHeritage and Geni, and familysearch tree. You may start there a small file of Birkholtz and use it as a research tool to enter unconnected people and hope that with more research you can connect them. That is if you do not have a similar research program. There is a Roman Catholic file with records for Znin in familysearch.org -- Search -- Images -- Znin. But there are only few German names there. But because Emilia BerthaBirkholz was born and her birth was recorded in Roman Catholic Parish, maybe their other children's births were also recorded other Roman catholic parishes. You may contact me directly mhe278@yahoo.com

Oh wow! Thank you so so much! I can't thank you enough! I didn't even notice that Emily's birth certificate was on Catholic records--that gives me a lot of hope since there are many Catholic records available on family search. I also went in and emailed three people who had Birkholz family trees on my heritage--I am in touch with a bunch on Ancestry as well. Thank you so much for this guidance--I am going to keep working through what you have given me here and see if I can turn anything up. Thank you so much for your help!
