I am thinking that some of us may have some experiences to share about opportunities that we missed because we were shy, thought we had years to act, or didn't preserve a treasure in the correct way.
Let's learn from each other!

I regret not asking more details and information for stories. The people that know me now would not expect that I would have been hesitant to ask questions of my relatives. I did not pry for personal information or details. I did not understand the value of the stories. I just did not ask enough and did not realize how much the details mattered when I recorded the stories of my ancestors.
I would love to know the details of my ancestors avoiding fighting in the Prussian War. Why didn't I ask more about my great grandmother's childhood? I wish that I knew more about why some of my relatives moved so much.
I wish that I had taken that box of photos home that my great grandmother offered. I thought she was old and that she might pull that box of photos out from under her bed and look at them. There was a flood at the home that she was staying in, and the photos were all thrown away. Thankfully, I took a photo of them. Of course, my photo wasn't a great quality image, but I did make a list that said who the individuals in the photo were.

I saw an Oprah show where she met Lisa Marie Presley at Graceland. There was super organized archives of everything and everything associated with Elvis, clothes, documents etc. It' made me a bit jealous.... it would be nice to keep everything, but I don't have that kind of space. I would have liked to have kept some nice/memorable furniture, trophies, dishes nicknacks. The house I grew up in. All the houses my family lived in..
