This is a link to a searchable database of the “BOOK OF NEGROES”. This register, called the Book of Negroes, is a complete record of each person’s name, the master he formerly belonged to, and such other details as would help to “denote his value”; it was to be used to compensate slave owners in the event that the evacuation was later found to contravene the treaty. The British completed their evacuation of New York on November 30, 1782. At the end, almost 3,000 names had been recorded and only a handful of disputed cases were heard.

That would be great! I've clicked around and don't see it. Do you happen to know where it is? Is it just the same title of book but in the US?

Ok it says the American version is at the U. S. National Archives in Washington D. C., but I can’t find it online. There was also a 6 part mini series on BET it looks like back in 2016.
