hello - I am researching a family - the mother and father died in 1972 and 1985 in Carolina, PR and I have hit a dead end finding their children. I believe they had 3 children born in the 1940s. Are there freelance researchers in PR who can assist?

Hi Pam, Since the Registro Civil was microfilmed in the 1980s-1990s, the most recent documentation was not included, also, the cut off for births is about 1930-1935, because of privacy issues. There is a tremendous amount of movement both around and off the island.
You have three ways to go-- contact the Sociedad Puertorriquena de Genealogia and see if there is someone you can hire; hire a private investigator, or try lists related to Puerto Rico on Facebook as many people there are looking for family members. Also, you can try the old Rootsweb boards for Ancestry.com, if you haven't already; you might glean a few details there.
Hope this helps,
Ellen
