I have some Swedish Household records that show my relatives living in Molnerud (Storfall). I know Molnerud is in Fryskande, Varmland. Does anyone know where I can find a map that would show exactly where Storfall was? Also, is there any particular

meaning for the word Storfall, or was it just the name of the farm?

Here is the link to the current map. You can see the Mölnerud and there is Östra Storfall a little bit down from Mölnerud. Storfall probably grew and it was divided to Västra and Ösrta Storfall. the original Storfall is most likely a little bit west from Östra Storfall.

Stor means big and fall is fall, there might be some story to that farm name.

Or is might be just describing the farm's location. When looking the map, you can see that contour lines show that the earth rises quite steep from the expected farm area.

Thanks for your reply. However, the link got me to the website, and I clicked on Jag samtycker. The map never came up. I also clicked on the English icon and played around for about an hour. I got Molnerud to show up, but never the map you had that shows Storfall.

Any other suggestions that will help me get to the map with Storfall?

Hi again. I was finally able to get access to the maps.

It took me at least 6 or 7 tries before I was able to get the map to come up. I don’t know what I was doing wrong. I don’t have a computer, so I was using my iPad. Finally I tried it on my iPhone and was able to get through to see the map. I took screenshots of all the different views in case I have trouble getting back on the site again. Anyway, thank you very much for your help. I really appreciate it.

I am happy that you managed to access that map. I use Windows computer and I haven't experienced any difficulties. I hope that it works better with you later on also.

Ok, I tried the link with my Android phone. It did not show me the search result! Only different ways to search. With my phone, on the upper right corner it gives the possibility to change language to English.

 

If you do search/Sök with Ortnamn/Placename and then select:

Slutar med/Ends with "Storfall"

Län/County "Värmlands län"

Kommun/Municipality "Torsby"

 

You should get 2 results

• Storfall (previously belonged to Lekvattnet)
• Östra Storfall (correct one)

Then click the name and it will show the pace in map
