When Germany occupied Samoa, they had gone through every village and recorded all the family names.
This might be like searching for a needle in a hay stack, but I'm hoping to find these books to do family research.

The Family History Center in Salt Lake City, UT has a volume of Mulivai Purcell who went from village to village & gathered genealogies. They also have hundreds of microfilms from the vault of the people of Samoa. The next time i go there, i'll search into it.

Yes, Mulivai Purcell is an Uncle of mine and as a child I remember him coming to our home in Hawaii to inquire from my mother our family information. It is well known in our family of the drive Uncle Mulivai had in genealogy and while some of his information has been questioned, I applaud him for the tremendous effort he had taken to gather genealogical information without the modern conveniences we have today. Appreciated your help tremendously.

Thank you Tagi, I seen those books when I was in college, and I was intrigue by the detailed information that was provided in those volumes and what an enormous feat that was and to think that record has been preserved for us. Hoping I can view it again, now that I value that information more so now for if and when I can get my hands on them than I did when I was a college student many moons ago. Thank you for invited me to this forum as it has awaken the drive in me to search out my ancestors more extensively.
Manuia lou aso, uso.
