What is the best way to request documentation from Italy?

I have done this in the past and without any response. Of course, at this time due to the pandemic, would not be the best time to request records. But what is the best way to obtain information such as birth, marriage, death records?

This information from the FamilySearch Research Wiki might be helpful to you.

First you do not say which records you are looking for civil or church records - You did not state a name or the name of the town in Italy. Have you looked at antenati and ancestry and Family search for any records. If it is church records they are difficult to obtain because priests are busy with other obligations and do not have time to go through old records. Have you tried to find a living distant relative that still lives there. You can contact them in writing a simple letter in English and a pedigree chart by looking at the italian White pages on the internet. Maybe they either already know the answer to your questions or they are willing to go to the church and see if they can obtain them. Another way for church records would be to hire a professional. If you are looking for civil records tand the Office of the stato civile did not answer and they are not on any of the internet programs then you need again to hire a professional of or a distant relative that lives there to get them for you.

Hello. I have searched records in FamilySearch. The records begin about 1870 and end before 1920's, I believe. I will have to look again. But I have gone through each set of records one by one if there isn't an index. The location is Guarda Veneta, Rovigo.

I have found relatives living there and I have been in contact with them. I have received tid bits of information from there over the years. I started a Facebook group for the family surname as well. My guess is that they are not that interested in genealogy or in sharing information. I guess it will be through time that I will be able to obtain more information. Hiring a professional may be a better alternative when funds allow. Thank you for your help!
